EGS Buyer Beware Forum Summary: EGS username: articulate makes off with 300 million gil. EGS has been a haven for scammers in the last few weeks as EGS mods have not been active in banning people. It's gotten so bad that at one point very obvious scammers were running around bragging about their activities. Let's examine a few things to led up to this: No active mods on EGS in the last 2 weeks: Maidak was given back his moderator position 5 days ago, but with so much to investigate it it doubtful he would have been able to do it all by himself. Even then what is a moderator expected to do? Put in a few hours a day for volunteer work? Working for a EGS CEO who is a scammer himself? Good rep and platinum membership: During that time, articulate was planning to go out with a bang. He had been building legit feedback and possibly some fake feedback for years. Most scams are not sophisticated and there will be many red flags. However when a forum member reaches 20+ feedback, they gain a lot more trust than someone with 0. General policy is the person with the lower feedback hands over the virtual goods or cash first. EGS: articulate tried to get as much as he could in that 3 day period before his entire plan was exposed. Some smart members were able to see through his tactics as EGS: articulate's behavior got more shady when trying to pursue people to give up their cash or virtual items. My comments: I'm thankful articulate was not a VF member at the time as we do our best to keep scammers out. This is why I think it's a good policy to report anyone who has not delivered virtual goods or paid for an item in 24 hours. It's more like a courtesy announcement for the public. It makes sense to me. Why would you want to pay someone who isn't even around to finish previous transactions? articulate ban thread started here: http://virtualfaqs.com/forum/scammer...ate-wowza.html

| Kendrah1 | I do recall this users name. I did not know his history went this deep. Let me tell you a few things about how EGS works. I saw his name on the multiple account list, but did not decide to look into him. Why did I not look into him? Well, it's quite simple, I grew tired of Monarch's BS, and stopped working for him over a year ago. I quit everything that would progress his website because I found out how much of a scammer he was himself. Ironically, the greatest scammer on eGaming Supply, is the owner himself. My efforts went entirely to my own business, and NOT to that of supporting a scammer such as Justice McCay. With that in mind, moderators don't work as hard. Middlemen don't work as hard. If the owner could care less, then why should anyone else right? Know that out of any moderator or middleman on that forum, half are working because they sincerely feel they can make a difference. They will eventually lose hope and find out they can't make any difference over time. Of those that recognize it already, they aren't working for you, because the site owner has already given up on them. You are at a greater risk than you realize, but it's only seen behind the scene. To the public, everything is peachy. Don't use the eGamingSupply middleman service if you value your money. Learn what you can about scam prevention, because most moderators are NOT working on your behalf. I can guarantee that. If you want a safe transaction, you need to work with honest and ethical website owners. What you read about scamming owners, is very much true. |
