Summary: MagicMike's FFXI account was temporarily suspended. The in-game explanation is “This PlayOnline account is temporarily suspended”

The PlayOnline account in question was temporarily suspended by SQUARE ENIX for the following reason:
- The account is currently in the process of account recovery or game data recovery due to unauthorized access by a third party

This account was purchased from a scammer casles who had built up quite a reputation on EGS. casles sold the account to Athenas on EGS. No info on whether casles was the OO.

Magicmike says, "I will never buy anything from anyone again on some forum. This would be the 2nd time I purchased an account where the OO took it back from me and the seller was unable to do anything about it. I am noticing a trend here. EGS Forum + Non-OO = ACCOUNT RECALL." Here's the problem. The OO is capable of recalling an MMORPG account regardless if it's a forum or website. That's just an inherent risk of MMORPG account buying because you cannot change the First and Last names in an account.

Each website and forum has their own rules to who is responsible for a MMORPG account recall. On EGS, the buyer is responsible unless the seller is the OO or is linked to the scam. On MMB, the seller is responsible for account recalls.

Magicmike later finds out that the account had 3 suspensions and got the account banned. It is unkown whether any of those suspensions are connected to Athenas.

As a buyer, you need to make sure you know everything about the seller and the OO. I wouldn't buy an account to play without OO info, TW verified with matching names or PayPal that matches the OO on the account. As a precaution, if you do buy an account without this info, then you should resell it quickly.
