It looks to be promising bu it also makes me wonder hw long it will take for 'the next best thing' to come out and make it obsolete. One would hope that if that time came, there would be a conversion but who knows.

haha now you're getting into it. There may be services that exchange BTC in real time to USD so that could decrease some of the currency fluctuation risk.
